A big day

Not only was today a big day for Carmen,
turning 11 and all,
it was also a big day for Max.

Today he said good-bye to his enlarged adenoids
and hello to better breathing,
clearer passageways and better sleep.

He was an absolute trooper during the entire process.
I couldn't be prouder of him.
While there were a few nerves (understandably so),
he handled it all beautifully.

We had an early start to the day.

All checked in -- Max and doggie.
A band for each.

Waiting patiently in pre-op.

I got to 'scrub up' and accompany Max into the OR.
It was a bit of a surreal experience for me.
Seeing my little guy on the table and watching
all of the talented medical staff let him drift off to sleep.

Not pictured -- post-op.
It was a bit rough as Max came out of anesthesia
but it was a successful surgery all in all.

Max has the best friends ever.
Boxes of popsicles and get well wishes delivered.
Thanks, friends!

A much needed nap for both Max and me.

Now, a few days of rest and recovery.
Jell-o, pudding, Top Ramen and Gatorade.
And, lots of popsicles.
Phew, glad this is over.
But, now onto healing and having a healthier, happier boy!
