13.1 miles

Today Jimmy completed his first half marathon.  He ran a grueling 13.1 miles and finished the race in just over two hours.  It certainly was a big accomplishment and we are very proud of him.  Now the recovery begins...

Summer

Yay, Summer is finally here!  To celebrate the changing of the season, Carmen started swim lessons today (ok, it was just a coincidence that the two milestones aligned).  Carmen loves the bath and kicks up a storm getting both Jim and I wet.  So, we decided to give the big pool a try and see if she is just as enthusiastic about a lager body of water.  So far so good.  For the most part she was all smiles for her first 'lesson' which really only included getting her body wet while she clung to daddy for dear life.  There were no tears, but the bottom lip did come out a few times until she got used to the water. No surprise that her favorite part of the 30 minutes was the singing.  She was so tuckered out by her new adventure that she napped for over two hours.

6 Months

Six months...one half year already!  We can hardly believe it.  Every time we blink you are growing and learning something new.  We can say with confidence that you have mastered the art of rolling.  Now, when you see something you want to explore, you adjust your course and manage to maneuver your way to it.  While you are not crawling yet, you have figured out how to move backwards and 'scoot'.  You also turn yourself around in a circle and any moment you will discover how to move that little body forward on your hands and knees.  You have started to give hugs and we love when you wrap your arms around our neck.  When you're tired, you rest your head on our shoulder, find your thumb and nestle yourself under our neck.  Lately, this occurs right before bed time once we take you out of your crib because you have been fussing.  Bed time has not become 'fun' time.  You seem to fight sleep because you don't want to miss out on what's going on around you.  You are so very inquisitive. There is so much to explore in this world and it's so rewarding to see our happy little girl learning each day.

Mmm...Food!

Carmen had quite a week.  Two teeth came in and we started solid foods.  Her first bite of real food was a yummy avocado.  She wasn't quite sure what to make of it.  She gave some funny faces but didn't spit it out.  She seemed to enjoy it for the most part.  Although, at times she was more interested in playing with the spoon. And although she just had a few bites, she did manage to get avocado all over her sleeve.  Good thing we have a plethora of bibs, including a body bib. Now, onto rice cereal and bananas!

Making Music?

Well, that's what we're calling it anyway. Not really music, just some funny noises, a toe nibble and then a reach for the camera.  Pretty action packed.  Enjoy.
