A Few Christmas-y Things

Advent Calendars.
Got to love a chocolate treat first thing in the morning!

Decorating a gingerbread house.
Max mostly ate frosting.
Carmen was really into it and was concentrating to make her editable house just so.
The final product wasn't too bad considering Max tried to consume everything she tried to put on.

Feeding Reindeer (apparently Blitzen & Dasher) and a Camel (Curley).
Well, Max fed them, while Carmen hung back. 'Um, I'm kind of cold,' was her excuse.
Max enthusiastically went back for more feeding.  He loved the camel.
Who knew Reindeer eat raisins.

Christmas art.
Here are a couple of my favorites this year so far.

Max's melted snowman

Carmen's colorful Santa
Carmen likes her Santa's colorful. She is into coloring and then cutting out her masterpieces.
In fact, we have two of these beauties.  She liked it so much she decided to make an exact replica.

Weekend Festivities

We enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving with the four of us and one giant turkey.
Kids thought licking the mashed potato beaters was fun.
Unfortunately, they didn't think the rest of the turkey dinner was so fun.
More left-overs for us!

Baked banana eggnog bread with some holiday helpers.

Had Post-Thanksgiving with the larger Skurski family.
Yeah for cousins!

Started putting up the first of many decorations.

Went to a chilly Sounders game.
No victory, but a good showing.
Time to hang-up the cleats until next season.

Of course, I did some black Friday shopping too.
Now, the holiday hustle & bustle begins...!

Sleeping

Yes, this is Carmen sleeping.  Yes, she is on the landing of the stairs and yes she is actually sleeping, not just pretending.  She is in 'no nap' mode these days and I threatened taking fun, play-time with friends away if she didn't nap today.  In true Carmen style, she did nap in her own way.  At least she's sleeping...I'll take what I can get!

For your viewing pleasure

Today was Carmen's last ballet class.  She was sad for the session to end.  I was sad too since she finally got into it about half-way through the session and really started enjoying it after she warmed up a bit.  Today parents were allowed to watch in the room which was great but also made for lots of distractions.  It was really chaos at best but really fun to see and watch.

Here are way too many videos of Carmen and her classmates but I'm a proud mama so had to share.  This is the first time Carmen has participated in anything!

Happy viewing.

Animal crackers...in my shoe!

Maxy has two new pairs of footy-pajamas.  He hasn't worn footy pjs since before he could walk so he has no recollection of ever having them before.  He was super excited about them and particularly fascinated with the 'shoes.' He calls the footy part 'shoes' and in these pjs the 'shoes' are a little big.  He is constantly telling me that his 'shoes are broken.'  He says this when his foot comes out of the 'shoes' every so slightly; its just a quick fix and he's on his way.  This morning he kept complaining that his 'shoes' hurt.  I would make the adjustment but still he carried on about how ouchie it was.  After further investigation he apparently had two entire animal crackers in the bottom of his 'shoe.'  I have no idea how he managed to get two animal crackers shimmied all the way down to the bottom of his 'shoes' in footy pajamas but he managed to do it.  He was stepping on the crackers and making crumbs that were causing his feet to hurt; no wonder it wasn't too comfortable.  That's our boy! The adventure of parenting continues...
