It's with a heavy heart we had to make the
very difficult decision to put our sweet Luna down.
She started having seizures that couldn't be controlled.
She declined quickly and with every day our hearts ached.
She was the kindest, most easiest going cat.
She was a lover, a snuggler, an important part of our family.
Of course Carmen was beside herself.
Luna was her joy, her world, her everything.
Luna and Carmen cuddled and slept together every night.
Most of the time Luna slept on Carmen's head
and was always by her side.
They both loved each other very much.
Thankfully, Carmen has an amazing support system and
the best friends a 10-year-old could ask for.
She received hand made cards and small gifts to help
ease her pain and make her feel better.
When she's ready (and the rest of us too), we'll get another kitten.
Not a replacement for Luna but another little bundle to love.
Blitz is doing ok, but definitely misses his sister.
He knows the balance of the world is not quite right.
There is no one to knock over all of our water cups,
to be Carmen's alarm clock,
to eat all of the wet food since Blitz doesn't like it,
to play with all of the creepy crawlies found in the house
(not Blitz's thing either),
no one to tolerate playing dress-up with Carmen,
to plop herself right in the middle of everything --
Carmen's school work, an active board game,
sleeping in Carmen's laundry basket on all of the clean clothes.
So many amazing memories of our sweet Luna.
Carmen and Max both received kittens for Christmas from Santa three years ago.
I will never forget them fighting over the picture of the cats.
They both wanted Blitzen because he had stripes.
Once Carmen found out the dark gray cat was a girl,
she decided that cat would be hers.
Little did she know that those two would compliment each other perfectly.
A true match made in heaven.
There was a full moon on the night we received the cats.
Therefore Luna seemed like the ideal name.
The moment she came into Carmen's life, there was nothing but joy.
It's a hard lesson to loose someone you love and
I'm very proud of Carmen for the way she's handling it.
We all miss our Luna Lou, our Luna Petunia.
You will forever be in our memory.
Goodbye sweet girl.
