Deception Pass 2019

We spent a few nights away to take advantage of mid-winter break
and headed to Deception Pass with friends.
(of course we needed another week off after all of the snow and already loads of no school)
There were five moms, 10 kids (and a dog).
We enjoyed a hike, exploring the beach, finding crabs,
playing games, watching movies and the company of good friends.

What's missing?

Two front, bottom teeth to be exact.
They both came out one day apart.
Both were swallowed. Eeek!
A note was written.
The Tooth Fairy still delivered two silver dollars.
A happy boy (with a slight lisp)!

Snow, snow and more snow

It's been a wild, wintery ride these last couple of weeks.
We were hit with snow, an unusual amount of snow.
It was fun to see the flakes falling from the sky.
It was fun to sled, inner tube, build snowman and have snowball fights.
It was fun to stay home from school, have extended playdates,
stay up late and watch movies and drink hot chocolate.
It was fun to take walks, play games, hunker down inside and stay warm by the fire.
All of these were fun...
Until it was starting to get not so fun.
Day after day of no school or late starts due to the snow, ice and then finally slush.
The kids were out of school for a very long time.
6 whole days + several 2-hour delays.
It was interesting to see how people prepared for the storms and stocked up.
Grocery store shelves were bare.
Firewood was gone and so were bananas!
Mom and Dad were ready for routine to resume.
We enjoyed the snow but it was time for it to go.
Until next time...

Sisterly Love

Sometimes our kids bicker (ok, a lot of the time they bicker).
But, every once in a while there is a moment of sweetness.
I love that Max made this poster for his sister unsolicited.
It came from his heart and he was really proud of it
(even though he spelled her name wrong...)
