Deception Pass: Summer 2016

It happens every year.  A summer weekend away to Deception Pass with great friends. 

This time, 6 adults, 6 kids, 2 dogs, 1 bat in the house,

1 adventure walk with a snake sighting,

1 day at the beach filled with beach combing, crab hunting, treasure gathering

and a mountain of sand, many buckets of golf balls hit,

1 bouncy house with only a few minor casualties,

1 bon fire, countless games of cribbage,

2 nights of staying up way past bedtime, endless laughs and memories. 

Thanks for another great trip!

Summer Visit

Grandma and Grandpa 'Son' recently departed from a summer visit.  It was a wonderful time spent together watching swim lessons, playing backyard baseball and soccer, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, enjoying family dinners and just plain being together.  We will all miss them!

Hot, hot, hot

The weather has been beautiful, full of sunshine and hot, hot, hot.  Here are a few things we've been doing to stay cool.

A trip to Cain lake with great friends.

Couldn't beat swimming, paddle boating, paddle boarding and kayaking.

It was a full day spent enjoy good company and enjoying the summer sunshine.

Backyard sprinkler time.

Of course, a run through the sprinkler calls for umbrellas!

There as also been frequenting jumping in the lake for Max.

The otter pop consumption is off the charts.

A few slurpee runs and of course countless glasses of lemon aid.

Here's to staying cool!

Ouch...again!

Yes, it happened yet again.  More trauma to Max's poor head.  Not exactly sure how this one happened.  He was sleeping, then cries, big load cries.  When asked how it happened he says, "I have no idea." On the fence about a trip to urgent care, but decided to try and patch this one at home.  It was 10:30 PM after all.  Two butterfly bandages with another band aid on top seemed to do the trick.  Here's hoping this one heals without too much scaring.

Of course, the promise of new soccer shoes seemed to do the trick to help coax the band aid off so his bandage could be cleaned and changed.  A trooper once again...

A few summary things

Summer has been flying by and we've been busy enjoying the sunshine, swimming, hanging out with friends, learning how to dive, playing outside as much as possible, riding bikes, staying up way past bed time and embracing having no routine. Hooray for summer being in full swing!

Crescent Bar 2016

It was a quick trip this year, just two and a half days, but we made the most of it.  Our annual trip to Crescent Bar was jammed packed full of fun in the sun.

First stop, SBUX drive-thru for some breakfast.
