Summer

Summer, we are glad you are here!

Time for playing at the park, consuming popsicles and otter pops, running through the sprinkle,  celebrating the end of school, staying up late, wearing flip flops and sunscreen, having lots and lots of pool time,  learning to swim, scooting and bike riding, building sandcastles, spending lots of time with friends and making some new ones.

Maxisms

A few random Maxisms from the archives as well as this week.  Some questions, some statements, some 3-year-old thinking.

Does the Easter bunny come by car?

Can I wear my belly button? (translation, can I take my shirt off)

That's not a Husky dog!  It's not purple and gold!

Mom, I'm growing up.  I have hair!  On my arm.

First Harvest

Pretty exciting!  Two Tinkerbelle peppers and some snap peas!
Hopefully there is more to come.

Owie, big time

Sigh.  It was bound to happen, but we thought maybe later vs. sooner.  It was all too familiar.  Smack!  And then immediate crying and tears, big crying.  He got himself good on his bed.  Apparently he tried to jump to his bed, but landed short.  Major slice over his right eye.  Last time it was his left, this time his right.  This guy likes to keep things balanced.  He was tough, he was brave and he is on the mend.  It wasn't our first trip to Urgent Care and I'm sure it won't be our last...

Ballerina

Our little ballerina was in her second recital.  She was beautiful in her costume and beautiful in her dancing.  She tendu passed and rondejoned to her 'petite ballerina' routine.  She practiced, made she knew the moves and had a lot of fun with her friends.  We are proud of our little ballerina.

Vegetables

After much pestering from Carmen, we finally got our act together and made a vegetable garden.  Honestly, I've never seen a kid so excited about spinach and peppers.  Max on the other hand is just content playing in the dirt.

It was a process--we got the wood, cut it to size, used power tools to build it (very exciting), got lots and lots of compost and dirt, made two trips to flower world for just the right veggies:

 5 varieties of peppers
3 tomato plants
peas and beans
lots of lettuce, different shapes colors and sizes
cucumbers
broccoli
carrots
cilantro and basil

We planted and watered and said a small prayer.
Fingers crossed the veggies grow and are eatable!
