Art vs Ouch

Carmen and Max are loving their new school.  Lots of new friends, playing in the gym, visiting the library and on and on.  All good stuff.

Funny though, Carmen comes home every day with lots of this:

Art, art and more art.  Pictured here is a portrait of Dad & Mom.
There are at least five of these beauties that come home every day.
Not always portraits, but pictures of rainbows, hearts, abstract, color sheets...
you name it, she draws or colors it.

Max on the other hand comes home with these:

Ouch Grams!  Two in one day.  Its a record.
Apparently our newly three-year-old is prone to accidents.
While not always his fault, he's racking up the ouch grams!

Birthday Bananza

The weekend was certainly filled with busy birthday fun.

It started with hand-crafted #3 pancakes, a trip to Krispy Kreme doughnuts for 'talk like a pirate' day, then off to Carmen's soccer game.  Next came a trip to Remlinger Farms for a pony ride, pint-sized amusement rides, activities, and a petting zoo; dinner out and then home for more presents and treats.  Breath.  The next day brought the extended Skurski clan over for dinner and more birthday celebrating.  Phew.  Birthdays are fun but exhausting.  And now, photo overload!

Three

Three today.  Excuse me.  Clock, reverse, please.
Time is marching forward and me refusing to accept it is not making it stop.
No longer a baby, a toddler, but a big boy (which you remind us of at every turn).
You have thoughts, ideas, bargaining skills.
For you, its sports all the time.
Soccer, basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, golf, Frisbee.
You are not picky.  You love to kick, throw, hit, jump.
You are not short on 'boy' energy.
You are stubborn, tremble when you get very mad and can be loud, loud, loud.
You fuss with the best of them when you don't get your way.
You also have a soft side and love to cuddle and snuggle, put your head on my shoulder and hug.
Your laugh is infectious. And you can be so silly.
You're our little Yin and Yang.
You keep us on our toes, test our patience by constantly pushing the boundaries.
You make us better parents, make us smile and fill our hearts with love.
We are so proud of you Maxy and the big kid you are becoming.
Happy 3rd Birthday to our dear, sweet boy.

Ballet

Today Carmen started a new ballet session.
She was so excited.  No being shy, no fussing, no clinging.
She marched right into the room, happily followed along,
learned some new moves and had a great time doing it.
She's growing up folks.

First Game

First game for team Rockets is in the books.  They ran, they kicked, they cheered, they snacked.  Carmen started off a little unsure, but eventually got in there.  Fun to have soccer integrated into our Saturday routine...looking forward to cheering on the Rockets this season!

A couple of funnies, Max style

Grandma Skurski was in a minor car accident.  Grandma and Grandpa came over to borrow our car for a day until they could get their rental.  Grandma was explaining to the kids she had an accident.

Max: "Did you pee your undies?"
Me:  A laugh-out-load moment (which doesn't happen often). Can you tell he is in potty-mode?

---------------------------------------

Daddy is leaving for the weekend to go golfing with friends.

Max:  "Can we turn on the golf game to watch daddy golf on TV."
Me:  "I wish, Max, I wish it worked that way."

And still she sleeps...

This time on the floor. Two nights in a row. One night in-front of her door so when Jimmy went in to give her a final kiss, he hit her head with the door.  Didn't phase her.  On she slept. Crazy kid.

Still Zzzing...

Not sure how she always manages to do it, but she keeps on zzzing...

Baseball Birthday

Today we celebrated Max's 3rd birthday with a baseball pool party.  Despite a foggy start to the morning, the skies cleared and the sun came out just in time for the kiddos to enjoy the water.  It was still a bit chilly, but the kids were troopers and quickly turned pool time into play time.  Max had a wonderful time celebrating with his friends, consuming lots of snacks and treats and eating way too much birthday cake.  Just what birthday celebrations are for.  Thanks everyone for making the day so special for Maxy.
