Despite the windy, rainy weather and no power this weekend, we managed to get out for some playtime.

Rainbow
A rainbow blast from the past.
Found this gem that used to belong to me.
It now fits Carmen.
I guess rainbows never go out of style.

Soccer
Soccer season is here! Carmen is on her very first team.
The Rockets to be exact. Made up of 3 boys and 3 girls.
One practice is under her belt.
It took her a few minutes to warm up, but she got in there and practiced.
She adores her coach, evidenced by the hand-holding.
She insisted he hold her hand during the scrimmage portion of the practice and he was kind enough to comply. We are working on the independence part. All in due time.
Of course little brother wanted in on the action too and did his own practice on the sidelines.
Should be a fun season as Carmen's long-time friend Dane is on the team too.
Go Rockets!

Weekend Activities
This weekend we were quite busy. We did lots of errands, but threw some fun in there too.
Aquarium
Carmen has been asking, begging to go to the aquarium for weeks now. This weekend she finally got her wish. With nothing on the calendar for Saturday, we started our day with the fish, octopus, sea stars and many other fish-like things to see. The kids happily ran from tank to tank to check it all out. The highlight for both was getting their faces painted and staring at the fish tank wall at the very beginning and very end of the trip.
Sounders
Carmen hadn't been to a game since she learned to walk and this was Max's first match. Certainly overdue to take them both to experience the blue and green scarf waving, chanting and action on the pitch. Carmen was most excited about the streamers that came down before the game started and she was a great fan--clapping when she saw everyone else clapping, standing up to watch the game, giving high-fives and holding her scarf-up. Max was a little less enthusiastic. While he loves, loves, loves soccer, he doesn't love, love, love loud noises. He literally covered his ears the entire game. Both happily munched kettlecorn and other snacks as they took in the true Sounders experience. And, lucky for us, it was a good game. 4 - 0 victory. Go Sounders!

Last Swim Lesson
Last swim lesson of the summer for Carmen & Max. Celebrating with report cards and otter pops! Progress has certainly been made. After not putting her face in the water for the first 7 lessons, Carmen now calls herself a fish and is working on 'tall arms'. Max is as fearless as ever and wants to jump and swim underwater as long as you will let him. He however is still trying to figure out how to be patient enough to learn to float. Something to work on in more aspects than just swimming :-)

Annual Trip
We recently returned home from the annual Skurski trip to Crescent Bar. With more than 20 of us, its always a good time. Lots of sun, swimming, boating and hanging out with cousins, aunties, uncles and Grandma and Grandpa.
Ready for the car ride.
Lots of snacks and new coloring activities.
We played lots of games of volleyball.
Max is ready to dig!
Then, the owie.
A nice little slice in his finger landed Daddy a trip to the ER for some stitches.
No water for Daddy for the rest of the trip.
Fun with cousins.
Roar...giant dinosaurs.
Silly faces.
Hair braiding--how stylish!
Trying on Grandpa's cool eye shades.
Cuddle time with Chloe.
Hitting the beach and making creations with Grandpa.
A ride on the boat to watch the big boys wakeboard.
A cool dip in the river. Brrr...refreshing.
An inner tube ride.
They loved it as evidenced by their smiles.
