Big Boy Hair Cut

Max got his hair cut.  It is too short for my liking.  It makes him look too old.  Another reminder that my Maxy is growing, getting older and is less and less of a baby and more and more like a big kid.  Something I need to accept, but I'll keep him as small as I can for as long as I can.

Zoo Time

We finally made it to the zoo.  It's been on our 'to do' list for quite sometime and the holiday weekend was the perfect time to make it happen.  The kids were thrilled to see all different types of animals--although Carmen's favorite thing was riding the carousel.  She also enjoyed the giraffes, the penguins and komodo dragon.  Max was a saint and actually stayed in his stroller the entire time.  He enjoyed practicing making elephant noises and eating snacks.  We will certainly be back to explore more the zoo has to offer.

Where should we go first?  So much to see.

Despite her look of fear and uncertainty,
the carousel was Carmen's favorite thing

Saturday Bike Ride

Carmen is finally getting some good bike time and practicing her pedaling on her new 'big girl' bike.  Well, not really that new--December birthday present new.  She is just starting to get excited about her bike and often wants to ride it around the 'neighborhoods.'  We did just that today.

Max is excited to ride his trike for all about two seconds.  He can't really reach the pedals fully yet, so he sits while we push.  We usually end up carrying him and the trike.  Fun for him, not always so much fun for us.

Sleepover Party

This past weekend we had a sleepover party (Carmen's words).  Two sleeps away from home.  She was super excited.  It was a fun weekend away with good friends--6 adults, 6 kids and two dogs.  We spent time building sandcastles, walking on the beach, picking wild flowers, coloring and playing with stickers, hitting golf balls, building with blocks, playing games, eating well, watching Frozen and Chip & Dale, going to bed late, waking up early, going for a walk and just enjoying each other's company.

'Flowers'

With the warmer weather Carmen has been excited about playing outside and doing some planting.  She loves carefully scooping dirt with her shovel in the flower beds (Max picks the dirt up with his hands and throws it, with most of the dirt landing in his hair).  She wanted to plant some 'flowers' so she picked some weeds from the yard (which she thought were quite lovely flowers) and lovingly planted them.  We dug special holes for each one and she watered thoroughly.  I didn't have the heart to tell her that her gems wouldn't make it.  So far she hasn't said a word about her 'flowers' not blooming like the other ones in the yard.  Phew!

Ferry Ride

This weekend we took a ferry ride to Bainbridge.  Max was most excited about pointing at birds and running around outside when the boat was moving.  Carmen was observant and asked lots of questions about what she saw and wanted to explore the boat.

Once we got to our destination we enjoyed a nice walk in the sunny weather, a yummy breakfast, a stroll through the farmer's market, a hand-twisted balloon, treats from the chocolate store and a little bit of shopping for mommy.  All in all, a successful trip!

Waiting for Daddy

After a long day of work, Daddy got to come home to these cuties waiting patiently for him to walk through the door.  A great way to end his day.

Pickles Please

It is 9:30 in the morning.  Max is whining and standing in front of the refrigerator repeating--pickle, pickle, pickle and pointing frantically at the fridge.  Really? Who wants a pickle at 9:30 in the morning.  Apparently both of my kids.

Thursday Night Picnic

With the 80 degree weather today, a picnic at the park was the best way to spend the evening.

Then, a trip to the frozen yogurt store was the finisher.  Max was excited to have his very own cup so he didn't have to share.  Carmen was excited she got to eat frozen yogurt (topped with M&M's and a lone gummy worm) and watch the movie Frozen at the same time!  She was also pretty excited  to perform 'Let it Go' while she was eating--quite the multi-tasker.
