Fish

We now have some new friends swimming in the pond--Goldfish.  Carmen and Daddy went on an adventure to the local pet store to pick out some very special fish. Carmen loved looking in the tanks at all of the different colored things swimming about and picked out her own lemon yellow goldfish, along with several other mates.  They are now happily darting around in the backyard pond and Carmen enjoys trying to find them and point them out before they quickly take cover under the rocks.

Kitchen Transformation

We have been wanting to refresh our kitchen for a long time.  It started out as a 'lets reface the cabinents' project which has turned into a 'lets get a brand new kitchen' project, which is often the case with home improvement.  We lived without a kitchen for a while and enjoyed and then got tired of many meals of eating out and take-out.  I learned how to efficiently wash dishes in the bathroom sink and Carmen learned how to curb her curiosity with the many 'no touch' items that were spread around the house during construction.

It was worth the wait. We now have new cabinets, counter tops and appliances. The project is now complete and we are thoroughly enjoying the end result.

Back in town

Yay!  Tasha, Dan and Zane are back in town from abroad.  We always look forward to this time each year where we can catchup, hear about their recent travels and next adventure.  Carmen has loved spending lots of time with Auntie who has been so great about taking her on walks and adventures in the backyard.  Zane has been a trooper with his pesky little cousin who likes to follow him around the house yelling 'Augie, Augie'--her pet name for Zane, wear his bike helmet, and come downstairs to visit and play when he is trying to watch a show.  It's been lovely being together, sharing meals, having squirt gun fights, taking walks on the bike trail and having good conversation.  We will certainly cherish the time we have left together before they head to their next destination in Morocco in early August.
